That's awesome
This is when you want to say that something is really "Wow", amazing. So, you can say, "That's awesome". Think of like, your eyes are open, your mouth is down like "OMG", right? So, if something is awesome, it just you don't know how to react to it. You are in the presence of something truly amazing and great.
That's wicked
Same with "wicked". Wicked has like, a bit of a tougher meaning. It's a bit more evil, in a way. "Oh, that is wicked, ugh, it just makes me feel like, amazing!"
That's killer
You see the word "kill", like it's so awesome that I want to die. That's how good it is.
That's unreal
If you see something really amazing, cool, you can say, "That's unreal". You can talk about movies that you think are cool, or video games, or books, so it can be the media, the entertainment we consume. You can also talk about people and sports and other things being cool. A person can have a cool fashion sense. So, if something is unreal, if you watch like a video game trailer and maybe the graphics look too good to be true, like they look life-like. You can say, "Woah, that's unreal" or "those graphics are unreal". Like, they are not from this world.
That's brilliant
This one is more used in the UK, in England. And if you watch Harry Potter, those movies, Harry and the gang, they say, "Brilliant" all the time. Like woah, cool, like amazing.
That's sweet
If something is sweet, it's like sugar or candy. Again, if you're watching a movie trailer and you see something that you weren't expecting to see like "Woah, that is sweet." If you extend it, it sounds even better. So, "That is sweeeet". Something that just tastes like candy, tastes like sugar, it's so sweet, it's so nice.
Rad/groovy
When you think of rad and groovy, groovy in particular, this is something that is enjoyable and excellent. So, if you're at a concert, you think of music as like having a feel or a flow. So, you're like, "Yeah, that's a groovy concert, man. Yeah, it's a groovy flow". So, something is groovy, it's rad or radical. "Groovy" is more from, like, the 70s, a little bit from the 80s, 1980s. "Rad" definitely more from the 1980s. It was definitely made popular, a lot more popular, by the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles television show. It's the short form for "radical", or if you're seen the original Ninja Turtles movie, where they're going, "Rad", the original Ninja Turtles movie, not the Michael Bay abominations. So, "rad" is just the short form of "radical" and it's just like something that's enjoyable and excellent.
Sick/ill
You would think that "sick", because it is bad thing, and "ill" which is, again, is another way to say, "I'm sick, I am ill". I don't know why people inverted this, but somehow, the word "sick", the word "ill" has a positive meaning, depending on the context that you're using it. So, you can say, "Ah man, that movie was sick." Or "Ah, that book was sick." People read and use the word "sick" to describe books, I guess that's possible, but just - it was amazing or incredible.
That's badas*
When you think of something as being badas*, it's cool because it's tough, it's hard. When you think of an action movie and you have a very tough, strong hero and that hero does stuff that is very well. Like, they don't have fear. Maybe they don't show as much emotion. They are totally badas*, tough, hard, rough. A game, like God of War, a lot of people would say, the God of War series is badas* video game series, usually you're doing like, macho stuff in it. But, badas* isn't only about being macho. It specifically means like, tough. So, someone can have a badas* fashion sense, if they dress in leather.
That's b*tchin
It's kind of 1980s, '90s, and brought back with the Stranger Things on Netflix, this word is back a little bit more. "B*tchin'" is just another way of saying excellent. Like, "That was a b*tchin' album" if you are talking about music and a particular album. It was b*tchin'. I don't use b*tchin' that often. I typically use "That's badas*". I use "sweet" a lot, I think, with my friends.
That is the sh*t /that is the good stuff
Like, that is the stuff, the thing that I want, that I need in my life. That is the top example of whatever I'm looking at. So, if I am talking, again, about, so I've talked about video games. Let's talk about Stranger Things. Season One of Stranger Things, that is the sh*t, that is the good stuff, that is what I want in my TV. That is what I need in my life. So, if you go to a restaurant, even. If you say, "That's sh*t", that's terrible. But if you say, "That is the sh*t", that is great, that excellent. So, you can say, "Oh man, this pasta is the sh*t", or "This food is the sh*t". If you say "It's sh*t", that's terrible. But add "the", "the sh*t", that is the good stuff.
That is out of this world
That is so amazing, so cool, so good, it's not even from Earth. It is like extraterrestrial. It is interplanetary, it is from space. So, a lot of Science Fiction movies, literally, are out of this world. But, if something makes you feel like, this isn't from Earth, this not even from our planet, this is so amazing, it's so cool, you can say, "It's out of this world".
That is legit
"Legit" is the short form for legitimate. So, this is real stuff, the real thing. So, if you say someone is legit it means they have no pretense in their identity. They're not trying to be a certain way. They say that you don't try to be cool. You just are cool when you really know who you are. So, if something is legit, it is the real thing. The real deal, you can say. So, if I say, "The first Matrix movie is legit", like, that is an awesome, really cool Science Fiction movie. The other two, maybe not. But, the first Matrix movie is legit. You should watch it after reading this.
That's dope
Dope same thing like really good. So, "dope", you can talk about anything. Again, like, "That book was dope", or "This furniture is dope". It's not the best example, but I guess furniture can be dope.
That's far out
If you want to sound like you're from the
1960s or maybe the 1920s, I've got some here:
Far out. So, think of hippies.
Think of people on drugs, basically.
If something is far out, it's kind of like
saying "Out of this world".
It's not here, "it's woah, it's far out". If you see a presentation or an
idea that really is cool to you like, "Oh,
I didn't think of that before, far out, man!"
You can use that.
We still use this in the 2000s, so you can
use that, that's okay. So, far out also means pretty cool.
That's the bee's knees
And then finally, you probably won't use these. If you do, maybe use it with like, grandparents who are from the 1920s if they're still here. Bees have knees, I guess. And I guess that's cool. Example, "This pizza is the bee's knees, grandma".
That's the cat's pyjamas
Think of cats in pyjamas. I guess that's kind of cool, because cats are really lazy and sleepy. And if they have pyjamas, that makes them even more cool. Because cats just don't care. "man, that is the cat's pyjamas" "Mom, this soup is the cat's pyjamas".
